Data visualisation: how lockdown changed mobility in France

By Aimé Lachapelle

This unique analysis of data from more than 30 billion geolocated steps, carried out jointly by Emerton Data and WeWard, sheds light on the mobility patterns observed since the lockdown was announced in France.

The results offer food for thought on two fronts: the implications of a general, uniform lockdown across the country, and the ways to implement an easing of the lockdown or a revised one.

To what extent did this mass departure among 18 to 45-year-olds involve reuniting with parents vulnerable to COVID-19?
