AI is expected to raise HR productivity by 30 to 40%, accelerating the strategic evolution of the function within the company.
The rise of AI sets the stage for profound changes in the world of work.
Recent advances are already built into tools that are transforming our daily lives: text generation with ChatGPT, code generation with GitHub Copilot X and image generation with DALL·E. They challenge traditional business structures and the future of some fundamental functions, first among them human resources management.
Companies therefore operate in a constantly changing technology environment. In an ideal world where AI maximises task efficiency, personalisation and productivity, would the HR function still be necessary? This provocative question hides a more fundamental one: what kind of business model do we aspire to, and how can emerging technologies such as generative AI help us achieve it?
To answer these questions, we conducted an extensive two-month study with 40 European HR experts from a range of sectors and companies, from tech scale-ups to large international groups. These interviews allowed us to map 21 AI use cases to key HR activities, set to transform HR roles and processes.
Our goal is to assess the feasibility and impact of these use cases on the HR function, as well as their level of user acceptance. Applied to different HR profiles, this evaluation also helps identify the implications in terms of job displacement and the evolution of skills.
